5/5/09 09:33 pm - Dreamwidth newbie.    So I caved and got a Dreamwidth account. So far two pretty damn cool things strike me. First, content importing through the DW site. No need for LJ Sec or LJ Archive. Do it right through the DW site. And it can import comments, tags, icons and profile info. The tags part really made me happy. Second, cross-posting. You can cross-post to another supported blogging site like LJ, IJ, or Blogger. I only have a free account so I can only do one, but that does save me a little time if I can cross-post to LJ. Paid accounts aren't horribly pricey, although I can't afford one right now. Maybe in the future since Paid can do 3 cross-post accounts and Premium Paid can do 5. So I guess I have another competitor for my journal home. Or maybe I'm developing ADD or some kind of compulsive disorder. Dunno. I know Inksome doesn't seem to be going anywhere. My account's permanent so I'll still mirror over there. My IJ account is permanent, too. Really the main competition is between DW and LJ, I guess. We'll see. I don't see LJ leaving my bookmarks anytime soon, though. |
